Spin Chance Vodka & Elf Wrestling: My Insane Adult Indie Game Night

My last Saturday night started with an innocent invite to a board games party. You know the drill: BYOBO (bring your own beverage and board game). I was in! It sounded like such a cool idea - playing my favorite board games while sipping on delicious craft brews. Little did I know, that innocent invitation would turn into one of the wildest adult indie game parties ever! I arrived at Eliza's beautifully decorated Victorian-style home around 7 PM, carrying my copy of Codenames: Harry Potter along with a growler full of apple cider. The living room was already packed with friends and strangers alike, all huddled over game boards, laughter and clinking glasses filling the air. Eliza greeted me enthusiastically, handing me a pair of cat-themed glasses with the words "Cupcake Catastrophe" printed across the lenses. She then motioned towards a table stacked high with more board games than I had ever seen in one place before. My jaw dropped as I scanned titles like Beeropoly, Fucking Cauldron Poker, and Cards Against Drunkenness. Clearly, this wasn't going to be your average family-friendly game night. Undeterred, I set out to mingle and found myself drawn to a group gathered around a colorful game called Spin Chance Vodka. Intrigued by the name alone, I decided to join them. One look at the game board and cards made it abundantly clear what kind of shenanigans we were in for. Each player takes turns spinning the wheel, which dictates their actions based on different categories like Truth or Spin-k-Off or Dare or Shots. If you land on Spin-K-off, you have to pass your drink to the person to your left, who then has to draw another card from the pile. If they get Spin-K-off again, everyone has to take a shot! Let's just say, my first round ended with me having downed two tequila shots while telling embarrassing stories about my college days. But wait, there was so much more fun to be had! After taking a brief break to rehydrate, I played an intense round of Elfenland Brodown, a fantasy-themed version of King of the Hill but with trolls instead of kings. This involved lots of shouting, pushing, and some friendly wrestling matches sprinkled throughout. By midnight, sweat drenched and giggles spilling out, we all collapsed onto the floor, exhausted but happier than ever. As people slowly began stumbling off to bed, Eliza passed around a bingo card filled with cheeky tasks ranging from giving someone a back massage to proposing a threesome. Whoever completed five squares first would be crowned the ultimate game master. Amused by the ridiculousness of it all, I joined the remaining few players determined to see how far I could push boundaries. And boy, did we push them! At 3 AM, after a series of hilariously debauched events unfolded that shall remain unmentioned here, Ethan finally called out "BINGO!" and the room erupted into cheers and applause. Someone handed him a glittery tiara adorned with dice and he proudly placed it upon his head, proclaiming himself the reigning king of insane adult indie game nights. As the last guests tottered out the door, Eliza thanked us all for making her party one hell of a blast. We exchanged bleary-eyed goodbyes promising to never forget the epic tales we've shared tonight. But, deep down inside, we knew that next time Eliza sends out the invite, we'll be there ready to play another wild night away. Because isn't that what life is really about? Creating memories and sharing laughter? Well, tonight, we certainly ticked both boxes.
